You may have noticed that there is a temperature dial on the dialysis machine. I want you to understand what this is for.
Dialysis Temperature Reasons
Many patients want us to increase the temperature if they feel cold. While this helps you feel warmer, this is not safe. Using a cooler temperature helps prevent heart and brain problems that are common in dialysis patients. The cooler temperature may help some patients get fewer cramps and some feel less washed out after dialysis.
We recommend that patients bring a blanket to keep themselves warm. The difference is that a blanket warms in a safer way.
Your local Pennsylvania renal doctors are available to answer any questions you may have about dialysis temperatures.
